All-weather tires and what the symbols on the sidewalls of tires mean @UrbanAutomotiveOakville

Описание: We all know about winter tires. Most people have all season tires on their vehicle but did you know there is such a thing as "all weather tires"?

In today's video Mike reviews a couple of options of all weather tires and what makes them different from the rest.

All season tires work pretty well in a variety of weather conditions but if you want better handling and performance you might consider switching to all weather tires instead.

Summer tires are good for high-performance vehicles like sports cars and luxury SUVs. They have a different tread pattern than all season tires with generally shallower grooves and more rubber that contacts the road the rubber is made of a stickier compound good for taking corners at high speeds. Plus it is engineered so it stays firmer the hotter the temperature gets.

That design works well in warm wet weather it makes sense since the more Rubber that's touching the concrete or asphalt when it's slippery out, the better the traction. The downside to these performance tires is they are terrible in wintry conditions.

They lose traction as the temperature has towards the freezing range and below since that rubber that's designed to stay firm at warm temperatures gets hard as a rock when they freeze.

The all weather tires reviewed in today's video are a hybrid tire designed to give good traction in snow while maintaining the good traction in wet conditions and in the warmer Canadian months.

In the video Mike reviews the different symbols and their meanings on the side of your tires. It's important to note that in the province of Québec is required to have snow tires from December 1 until March 31st. The snowflake and mountain symbol constitutes a winter tire.

The General AltiMax AW is an all weather tire that has both of these symbols.

If you're driving is limited and you do mostly in town driving you might want to look into the All Weather tire option.
