Shonen is the dominant genre in the market of anime and manga. It appeals to everyone with it's versatile nature and universally understood themes. However in the warzone that is the Shonen marketplace, there is a huge issue brewing. A certain trope that's been popularized by many of the biggest Shonen around is ruining a lot of stories that aspire for greatness. this trope seems to have been grandfathered into a lot of newer stories even though it doesn't fit the structure or themes of the story. Even with it's prevalence, not many people are commenting on this trope nowadays, so I wanted to take the time to identify it in all its splendor.
