Big Statement on SC/ST Seats Increase in Lok Sabha

Описание: Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha on the Women’s Reservation Bill and shared the government’s position.

He said around 130 members, including 56 women MPs, took part in the discussion. While no one directly opposed the bill, he claimed that the INDIA alliance raised objections using “ifs and buts.”

Amit Shah stated that the government plans to implement the Women’s Reservation Bill before the 2029 elections in a time-bound manner.

He also spoke about the principle of “one person, one vote,” highlighting big differences in constituency sizes. Some areas have 39 lakh voters, while others have only 60 thousand.

He concluded that delimitation is necessary to fix this imbalance and also increase seats for SC and ST communities.
