Overview

The 2025 Audi A6 is built for quiet luxury with a clean, unadorned design that's the polar opposite of splashy. While there’s nothing wrong with its base 261-horsepower four-cylinder, we much prefer the available 335-horsepower V-6, as it makes highway jaunts effortless and provides good power for spirited driving. If you need more than that, consider the high-performance S6 model (reviewed separately), which keeps the stealthy look but sharpens its responses to go along with a 444-horsepower engine. This comfortable sedan has strong competition in the BMW 5-series, the Genesis G80, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, all of which are well-built and offer plenty of tech. If you like the size of the A6 but want to make the switch to something powered by electricity, check out the A6 e-tron which is new this year and built on an electric-vehicle architecture. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Audi A6 has earned a spot on our Editors’ Choice list for 2025.

What's New for 2025?

After a mild freshening for the 2024 model year, the A6 enters 2025 with a handful of small changes. All models get standard traffic sign recognition, and the buttons for the Homelink universal garage door opener have migrated from the touchscreen to the rearview mirror housing. The A6 45 Premium trim is now available with a Convenience Plus package that includes 20-inch wheels, a lowered sport suspension, black exterior trim, and the LED Interior Lighting Plus package. The A6’s Premium Plus trim now comes standard with four-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-pane acoustic glass, and a power trunk lid. And the Prestige trim now adds the contents of the former Luxury package, including contour front seats with massage and Valcona or Milano leather trim for the dashboard, armrests, and center console.

We recommend the mid-range Premium Plus 55 trim with its standard turbocharged V-6 engine. Besides the smooth, strong engine, this model includes a lot of features that luxury buyers will find tempting, such as a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree exterior camera system. On top of that, we'd suggest the Executive package, which includes a power trunk lid, multicolor ambient interior lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats.
