Community Spirit: Beyond the rituals, the National Blood Centre collected over 1,000 bags of blood in a massive 36-hour donation drive held right at the temple gates.

The most striking sight remained the Vel Kavadi bearers. In states of deep trance, these devotees carried massive metal structures attached to their bodies via hooks and skewers pierced through their skin, cheeks, and tongues.
