A large-scale mural, on the side of a metallurgical plant, is aiming to put the Russian city of Vyska on the art world map.
Russian street artist Misha Most has designed a colourful, sprawling 10,000 square-metre mural to inspire workers.
STORYLINE:
In the Russian city of Vyska, around 360 kilometres east of Moscow, these painters are getting to work.
The 10,000 square-metre exterior wall of this metallurgical plant has been transformed into a giant canvas for Russian street artist Misha Most.
The paint was provided by factory management. It's hoped the completed mural will be an inspiring sight for its workers.
"Three tons are used on these walls. This is enough to paint 1,000 cars," says Anatoly Sedykh from United Metallurgical Company.
"In fact, it is not very expensive for the plant, but from the point of view of the project it is a very good idea."
Moscow-born artist and graffiti writer Most began painting back in 1997.
He's had works exhibited in Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France, to name a few.
It took two months to paint the factory's giant exterior wall. Most says it took longer than expected due to poor weather conditions.
He says the sheer scale of the project was a challenge.
"It is very interesting to work with such scale, it is kind of a challenge," he says.
"I have done facades before, but not of such scale. In fact, nobody has done it and it is a very big responsibility."
Those involved with the project were hoping to break a Guinness World Record, but the large artwork didn't satisfy all the guidelines.
The wall project was conducted as part of the Art-Ovrag urban art festival.
Festival organisers aren't intending to stop here. They're hoping to come up with new creative ideas to put Vyska on the art world map.
