This is just a short video on how I apply frosting to my swiss roll.
Swiss Roll Cake/Vanilla Swiss Roll cake/Basic swiss roll cake.
Here is the recipe to make swiss roll cake.
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees
INGREDIENTS
A. For the cake
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 granulated
1 1/2 tbsp corn starch
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 teaspoon cream of vinegar/lemon juice/cream of tartar
4 egg white room temp
1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 egg yolks room temp
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
B. Filling
125 ml whipping cream
1/4 icing sugar
fruits of your choice
Baking tray I use is 8" x 11" (but you can use slightly smaller or slightly larger pans)
1. Beat egg whites until firm peaks achieved. Ensure the bowl and the whisks should not have any strokes of fat such as yolks, oil, butter, otherwise the egg white will not be able to turn foamy (or be whipped to stiff)
2. Beat egg yolks and sugar until white and foamy. Add the dry ingredients and mix. Add vegetable oil and mix. Add milk and mix until homogenous.
3. Fold in the meringue. Then transfer to you baking pan.
4. Bake for 15-18 mins. Do not over-bake.
For vanilla whipped cream / Chantilly cream:
1 cup very cold whipping cream (heavy cream)
100 gms cream cheese
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
