31105 named 'Radio Caroline' by Rick Wakeman OBE at Mangapps Farm Railway Museum (UN-EDITED) ** Bookmarks to follow **
A rare treat at Mangapps Railway Museum shows restored / recently repainted BR class 31 locomotive 31105 resplendent in BR Blue as it would of have appeared under service with British Rail in the 1970's and beyond being named 'Radio Caroline' in a naming ceremony performed by Rick Wakeman OBE along with the owner of Mangapps Farm Railway Museum John Jolly, local radio legend Ray Clark and a number of Radio Caroline DJ's and staff.
This unedited video features most of the ceremony, hopefully the audio will be clear enough to accompany the visuals. After the speech by Rick Wakeman OBE the beautifully turned out 31105 made it's way out of Mangapps station with a little clag for good measure and ventured up the line past Mangapps Signal Box to collect it's passenger stock for the day's journeys up and down 3/4 mile line.
The stock collected being former LTS EMU 302 201 in BR Blue livery complete with internal posters and maps from the later days of LTS Rail which followed the privitisation of British Rail.
31105 was originally a Stratford based locomotive later being allocated to Ipswich depot and enjoyed use over it's early life across the Eastern Region of British Rail and now enjoys pride of place status amongst the fleet at Mangapps Railway Museum.
