The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority or Nepra has approved a Rs1.743 per unit increase in electricity rates across Pakistan. This increase is effective from September to November, and aims to raise Rs43.23 billion for ex-Wapda distribution companies. The adjustment accounts for capacity charges, system use fees, and other costs from the fourth quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year. This rate hike will also apply to K-Electric consumers, excluding lifeline and prepaid customers. Separately, Nepra announced a Rs0.3692 per unit reduction for certain consumer categories, including those using up to 300 units.
