I intentionally use real and meaningful Chinese words,
including some China-specific expressions, such as:
– 内卷 (intense competition)
– 大龄剩女 (older unmarried women)
– 铜墙铁壁 (inner fortress)

In this episode, I talk about different sources of anxiety in Chinese society, such as:

– Study pressure
In China, studying is often seen as a path to higher income and higher social status, which creates strong competition and anxiety.

– Work and life pressure
Including buying a house or a car, getting married, having children, and taking care of parents.

– Pressure to get married
After 1949, China transitioned from an agricultural society to an industrial and modern society. For older generations, marriage once brought stability and benefits, so they believe young people today should also get married.
I understand their perspective, but I choose not to live my life in the same way.

Although I sometimes feel anxious, I try to face anxiety in my own way —
focusing on what I can control,
building a healthy lifestyle,
learning new skills and knowledge,
and letting go of what I cannot control.
