Decision Making Drills: Dynamic, Realistic Shoot/No Shoot Training with Church Staff 2018

My team and I conducted shoot/no shoot, decision making drills and training with the armed church security team of a large church in west Michigan.

25 people went through 4 dynamic, realistic scenarios over 2 nights, and everyone clearly went through some level of an adrenaline dump! Not all the scenarios turn out to be a lethal force encounter, but everyone definitely came away with a new awareness of how quickly a lethal force encounter can evolve.

A vast majority of armed church security teams do not go through this decision making training. They spend hours at the range, and they have scenario training with simunitions, but in all cases the training is the same - shooting.

I created a training program so that armed church security members will have to develop stress inoculation, muscle memory, confidence in themselves and each other, and get real time feedback after a scenario.

This training is designed to keep armed church security from being conditioned to resort to lethal force in situations that may not call for it.
