I am going to bring you a delicious and easy vegetarian sausages recipe. The main ingredient of the recipe is Lasia root which is considered a food that has a high amount of fiber in it. The texture of the Lasia root is very good for the digestive system. It is considered a delicacy all around the world. In Sri Lanka, the plant is called as කොහිල (Kohila). Let's get started.
First of all, you need to find fresh Lasia roots. It grows mostly alongside rivers, open wet places, and swamps. You need to be very careful with sharp spikes on the root skin. This simple vegetarian sausages recipe takes about 25 minutes to make and serve to the table. You should remove the skin of the Lasia root first and chop it into small pieces. Then those pieces should be boiled and ground using mortar and pestle. Then you can use spices as per in the video or as your wish. But make sure to make the paste thick, because you can't get the sausage's shape out of the paste if is not thick enough.
In this video, I used coconut oil to cook the sausages. But you can use your preferred oil for the cooking part. And also please make sure to not use a large amount of oil to cook the vegetarian sausage. It takes about 10-12 minutes to be cooked as the roots are pre-boiled.
