During the Fall of 2024, four poets participated in Poets Across Lines, a cross-regional poetry writing program sponsored by the Poetry Foundation in Birmingham, AL and Tucson, AZ. Over three months, they created poems which centered around the themes of immigration, housing, and LGBTQIA+ identity to amplify poetry and poetics from underrepresented communities.
Two writers from each city were selected based on their applications to join experienced Mentors for in-person workshops and connect with each other virtually during guest speaker sessions with published writers and literary agents. At the end of the program, they all read their original work during a live reading which was held both in-person and online.
