President Trump will speak to troops and military families in Fort Bragg, N.C., on Friday afternoon, where he is expected to highlight the specialized forces that assisted in the U.S. military’s capture and arrest of ex-Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
Trump, who touted the Jan. 3 mission as a major win for U.S. national security, has signaled his administration will help run Venezuela and its vast oil reserves. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez has pushed back on that notion, claiming Maduro is still in charge even as he faces drug trafficking charges.
First lady Melania Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are expected to attend his remarks in North Carolina.
The trip also comes as the president has ramped up his travel to key states ahead of the 2026 midterm elections to promote his agenda from economics to foreign policy.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EST.
