SO WTF IS INCANDESCENT?

It's our boldest leap to date.

From ambient to aggy amid back-to-back bliss, this technicolour multi-genre trip fizzes with an alchemy unlike anything you could hear on any other label or stable.

A weird and wicked weave of beats. Breaks, electro, downtempo, dubstep, house, garage, jungle, 160, hardcore, ambient, techno and everything in between. Featuring artists you know, and maybe quite a few you don't (yet), this is the hyperactive, vivid, full spectrum painting I (NoDave) have personally been working towards since I first ever stepped foot on a dancefloor / touched a deck / wrote my first article.

At points this collection is gentle, delicate and glowing with a feeling of sonic empathy. At others brash, curmudgeonly and prone to sudden emotional switches. Either way, it is 100% personal and powerful.

Hailing from across Europe, North America, South Africa, Asia and Australia, every single artist is known to me. Some I've known for yonks, otheres literally because of this album. Most, though, have connected with me somehow because of this platform. Demo Drop, competitions, interviews, events or releases or anything else 1 More Thing has done since launching properly in June 2022.

Whether we've been linked for seconds or seasons, we are all kindred spirits and close allies in this current battle creative people in right now against the risk-averse homogeonisation, ensh!tification and exploitation of the arts, reducing everything we love into mainstream pulp and money-motivated monoculture.

We are all tired of hearing the same old, same old. None of these amazing creative individuals you hear on this collection - or me personally as the curator, founder, DJ - will ever resort to copying or compromising just in order to keep a perceived slice of pie.

That's what this collection stands for. Things don't have to be the way they are. This is a statement that art should not be in the hands of capitalist structures. INCANDESCENT is the sound of fierce hope, love and pride for this culture. All the misfits, misaligned and mistreated individuals who built it before us, all of us now and all of us moving forward.

Sonically it features some of the voices of the artists. Taken from interviews we'll be rolling out in Janurary, there's a story of love, soul and spirit running throughout the mix.

Visually it's also a new energy for 1 More Thing. An aesthetic that fits our spirit and vision; graphics have kindly been made by Deerhill and Garru and manipluated by me to fit this whole 1h40min trip.

One can be described as incandescent with rage or passion. It also means energy and even used to describe a type of lightbulb - which is the universal symbol for an idea, something my brain is never short of an often too cluttered ande noisy wih - it's the perfect word for the pretty chaos me and my platform stands for.

Right now I am incandescent with hope that the amount of energy, connectivity and INCREDIBLE CREATIVITY from everyone involved that is behind this project gives 1 More Thing the boost and it needs to continue building an honest platform that prizes art over profit and risk over routine.

There is no more time to play it safe. The mainstream is not here for you. Nothing will ever move forward if we just look after our own interests.
