Some Grandsire Triples on this mid-weight eight in a pretty Wiltshire market town. The bells are somewhat of a hotchpotch of dates and founders which blend very well, although the poorly toned 7th sticks out like a sore thumb!
They were augmented to 8 in 1969, using metal from three of the former Mears octave at SS Peter & Paul, the church at the other end of Marlborough High Street, with a tenor of some 13cwt; these were taken down in 1968 for the metal, and the remaining five bells were displaced later, after the church had become redundant in 1974. The building still survives, run by a Trust, with the 1741 sanky still intact; the ringing room there is now used as a museum!
This was taken on the Young Ringers' Outing on November 26th. Unfortunately quite short as my camera ran out of battery - but as this wasn't the first tower, there will be more footage to come soon! :-) Shoutout to Ringer Jake for filming..... it also means if you get seasick you can blame him! :-P
