Manitoba Liberals are the Only Party Ready to Deliver Real Change in Manitoba

Manitoba Liberals say there is every indication that in this election, neither the PCs or the NDP can win government and the Manitoba Liberal Party is the only choice to stop both parties with terrible track records and bad fiscal policy from governing in the Manitoba Legislature.

“As Manitoba Liberals presented a progressive, costed, fiscally responsible plan to dig Manitoba out of the hole it’s in, the PCs and NDP have been making more and more desperate and outlandish promises because they can’t figure out how to win a majority, which neither one of them deserves,” said Dougald Lamont, Manitoba Liberal Party Leader and MLA for St. Boniface. “Whenever the NDP asks Liberal voters to vote NDP, it elects more PCs. You can vote Liberal and stop both.”

Since Lamont and Kinew were elected leader of their parties in the fall of 2017, there have been three contested by-election. In every one, the NDP claimed they were the only party that could win, and lost in all three.

In St. Boniface, Liberal Leader Dougald Lamont won a seat previously held for 19 years by NDP Premier Greg Selinger.

Cindy Lamoureux has won twice against NDP incumbents in Winnipeg’s north end.

Jon Gerrard is a stronghold in River Heights and is a clear choice who has consistently held both NDP and PC governments to account for their failed policies that continue to this day.

In Fort Whyte, Willard Reaves is the only candidate that can beat the PCs. Considered a former PC stronghold, Reaves nearly took the seat, increasing support by 22%. Despite knowing that, NDP campaign strategist publicly told the Free Press they would rather see the PCs win than the Manitoba Liberals – which speaks volumes about their priorities.

Given the health crisis, Rhonda Nichol in Kirkfield Park is the hands-down best candidate to help lift us out of the health care crisis Manitoba finds itself in.

In Burrows, support is extremely strong for Manitoba Liberal candidate Garry Alejo, who is well-connected and has been a strong advocate for years in the constituency for community safety.

Eddie Calisto-Tavares, running in the Maples, is a longtime community advocate and leader. She has been a champion for the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy at the Maples Care Home and has lived in the constituency for over 30 years. Calisto-Tavares has worked for decades helping thousands of people transition to new jobs.

Robert Falcon-Ouellette, who is running in Southdale, is a past Member of Parliament. As an MP, he helped lead change in Child and Family Services and health laws in Canada and he helped produce numerous Finance Committee Budget Reports. He is also a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces for 27 years.

As MLA candidate for Assiniboia, Charles Ward brings decades of experience helping Fortune 500 organizations recover from disaster, and years of experience as a forensic auditor to fix the issues that chronic government neglect have brought to Manitoba.

“If the other parties can’t win a majority, why are Manitobans being told they don’t have a choice? We all know we need real change in Manitoba, and there’s only one party offering it - the Manitoba Liberals,” said Lamont. “All the other parties are offering is something to vote against. When people look to our plan, and to our candidates, you’ll see Manitoba values you can vote for – in this election, we are the only real choice for change.”
