Описание: Renowned Bangladeshi author, Taslima Nasreen, who has been living in exile since 1994, has alleged that social media giant Faceook has banned her account for 7 days 'for telling the truth'. In a tweet posted on Monday (November 1) morning, the author further stated that the reason for the ban was because she questioned why Islamists were silent once it was revealed that Iqbal Hossain had placed the Quran on Hamunam's thigh, which led to Hindu temples and houses being destroyed in Bangladesh.

This is, however, not the first time Taslima Nasreen has made such allegations against the Mark Zuckerberg-led platform. Earlier this year on March 16, the Bangladeshi author claimed that Facebook had barred her from posting on the platform for 24 hours. In 2015, she had alleged that Facebook diabled her account.

According to Faceook norms, an account can be banned if it observes serious violation of its hate-speech policy. As per the policy, Facebook defines hate speech as direct attack against people on the basis of: race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, religious affiliation, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity and serious disease.

Nasreen, author of books like Lajja, My Girlhood, French Lover, etc., left Bangladesh in 1994 in the wake of death threat by fundamentalist outfits for her alleged anti-Islamic views.
