Central Alberta, Alberta, Canada — On January 28, 2026, members of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, in partnership with the Camrose Police Service, located two suspects in a black pickup truck wanted in connection with a multi-week crime spree. The suspects were linked to a previous police pursuit and the thefts of vehicles, fuel, and a cargo trailer across the Camrose, Wetaskiwin, and Vermilion areas.
After the vehicle fled at high speed, the Alberta RCMP Real Time Operation Centre (RTOC) organized a multi-jurisdictional response, coordinating nearby detachments and an air unit. Police helicopter footage shows the pickup truck driving over spike strips and continuing on deflated tires through snowy conditions. Once the vehicle reached a safer rural area and was unable to effectively flee, ground units successfully made contact and disabled the truck. Officers surrounded the vehicle and apprehended two suspects at gunpoint.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have laid the following charges: A 40-year-old Camrose County resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; A 30-year-old Camrose resident was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
Police investigations into the other associated offences remain ongoing.
