A widely circulated video shows the structure glistening against the night sky before it is plunged into darkness during a mock security drill. The iconic site is the most significant shrine of the Sikh religion.

These drills were held across several Indian cities and towns on Wednesday. India's home ministry had asked officials to conduct them in almost 250 districts with the goal of assessing and enhancing "civil defence mechanisms".

The mock drills aim to test India's readiness for emergency situations such as air raids, blackouts, and evacuations and were announced before the Indian air strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
