A police officer was called to keep the peace when a closed-door meeting among town leaders devolved into a shouting session with personal insults, commands to ‘shut-up’ and even a challenge to a fight by the mayor.
AL.com obtained a recording of the complete closed-door session held Monday evening just after the Tarrant City Council meeting.
The meeting was called to discuss the fate of the Tarrant fire chief, but no resolution was found to end the legal, financial and personnel impasse.
Instead, the gathering dissolved into a raucous exchange between Mayor Wayman Newton and members of the city council.
