So you're more of a vintage Bentley Boy than new-money baller? The Breitling for Bentley Mark VI Chronograph is the watch for you. At 42mm in diameter with classical detailing, this is a Breitling sports watch for anyone whose tastes favor refinement and discretion.

With its polished steel case, matching "Speed" bracelet, and platinum knurled bezel, there's no mistaking this Mark VI for a Breitling "Bentley." But the rational size, elegant proportions, and thoughtfully appointed dial are a tribute to a different era of Bentley than the one that's captured the hearts of the TMZ crowd.

Consider the beautifully contoured case. Its tapering lugs are long, graceful, and emphatically traditional. While many modern sports watches have grown so large that their lugs must be reduced to stubs simply to retain a modicum of compatibility with human anatomy, this Breitling for Bentley Mark VI is sensibly sized, and the result is room to extend a shapely set of lugs without inducing wrist overlap.

Additional details recall the 1946 to 1952 Bentley Mark VI saloon that lends its name to chronograph. With oval chronograph pushers and a dial that resembles (but is not...) a circa-1950 twin-register chronograph, the Mark VI is a throwback within a Breitling model line known for chasing hypermodern vogues.

The dial itself is a gorgeous and uncommon soleil metallic blue with accents of 18-karat gold and small shocks of red. The two sub-dials leave the expanse of vibrant color uncluttered, and a subtle gold inner dial calibration resembles the rounded rectangles of mid-century automotive gauges.

Breilting's caliber 26 movement provides COSC-certified Swiss Chronometer precision. Automatic winding and equipped with a date function, the caliber 26 features clever engineering that relocates the chronograph minutes hand to the center of the dial; it is co-axial with the chronograph seconds hand. This measure eliminates the need for a third sub-dial, retains the uncluttered vintage look of the main dial, and it improves the legibility of the two most important chronograph hands.
