This is normal engine operation, nothing changes with EGR open and close and/or swirls open and closing at idle.

Idle should be soft, relaxed and steady.
The reason for that is the normally functioning catalitic convertor and the normal backpressure. If EGR open at idle worsens the work of the engine, then there is a problem such as increased backpressure.
If swirl valves affect the no load operation at idle, then the jntake is clogged.
