U.S. President Donald Trump promised to bring back the "golden age of America” on Monday in an inauguration speech that outlined his top priorities in the opening days of his administration.
Trump said he will introduce a series of executive orders upon taking office. Among the flurry of actions was the pledge to declare a national emergency at the southern border.
The president said he will immediately begin promised mass deportation, adding that he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to “eliminate the presence of all foreign gangs and criminal networks” operating in the U.S.
Trump also renewed his pledge to impose tariffs on foreign countries, including Canada, and said he would establish an external revenue service to collect tariffs, duties and revenue.
