Описание: L’origine del castello, risale al XIII secolo, e venne costruito sulla sommità della collina che sovrasta il paese di Frinco. Nel medioevo fu feudo imperiale, e fu di proprietà di alcune famiglie nobiliari, tra cui figurano quelle dei Pelletta (1277), dei Turco (1342), dei Mazzetti (Conti nel 1442, e Marchesi dal 1733) e degli Incisa di Camerana (1829). Il castello di Frinco fu più volte coinvolto negli scontri tra Guelfi e Ghibellini e tra le lotte per il Marchesato del Monferrato. Nel XVII secolo, le truppe francesi che si dirigevano verso la città di Torino per assediarla, saccheggiavano il paese di Frinco senza risparmiare il castello che veniva attaccato più volte. Tra il 1915 e il 1918, durante la prima guerra mondiale, il castello venne requisito e trasformato in uno dei più grandi centri di reclusione di prigionieri austro-ungarici. Nel 2016, una delegazione della Croce Nera austriaca, ha posto una lapide in loro ricordo. Nel 2008, il castello viene acquistato da una società immobiliare che fallirà a metà del 2012. Nel febbraio 2014, l’ala sud del castello crolla rovinosamente sulle case sottostanti. Nel mese d’aprile del 2015, un antiquario toscano, acquista la proprietà per mezzo di un’asta fallimentare, e s’impegna a far eseguire i lavori di ristrutturazione. Il tentativo di erigere un muro di contenimento, non andò a buon fine. Crollò rovinosamente sul tetto della casa sottostante e sulla strada. Grazie ad un contributo della Regione Piemonte avvenuto nel 2018, l’anno seguente, il 30 maggio 2019 viene firmato il passaggio di proprietà a favore del Comune di Frinco, il quale avvia fin da subito i lavori di consolidamento della rocca che termineranno nel dicembre del 2021. Nel 2022 avvengono i primi eventi, con aperture al pubblico, matrimoni e giornate d'autunno FAI con ben 1400 visite nei weekend. Nel 2023 si progetta la ricostruzione dall'ala sud. Nel gennaio del 2024, iniziano i lavori per terminare a dicembre 2024. Oggi la struttura del castello si ripresenta al pubblico, nuovamente forte ed imponente, facendo bella mostra di sè, su un territorio collinare di ineguaglibile bellezza ed importanza come quello del Monferrato.

The origin of the castle dates back to the thirteenth century, and was built on the top of the hill overlooking the village of Frinco. In the Middle Ages it was an imperial fiefdom, and was owned by some noble families, including those of the Pelletta (1277), the Turco (1342), the Mazzetti (Counts in 1442, and Marchesi from 1733) and the Incisa di Camerana (1829). The castle of Frinco was repeatedly involved in the clashes between Guelphs and Ghibellines and in the struggles for the Marquisate of Monferrato. In the seventeenth century, the French troops who headed towards the city of Turin to besiege it, sacked the town of Frinco without sparing the castle which was attacked several times. Between 1915 and 1918, during the First World War, the castle was requisitioned and transformed into one of the largest detention centers for Austro-Hungarian prisoners. In 2016, a delegation of the Austrian Black Cross placed a plaque in their memory.  In 2008, the castle was bought by a real estate company that went bankrupt in mid-2012. In February 2014, the south wing of the castle collapsed ruinously on the houses below. In April 2015, a Tuscan antique dealer bought the property through a bankruptcy auction, and undertook to have the renovation work carried out. The attempt to erect a retaining wall was unsuccessful. He collapsed ruinously on the roof of the house below and on the street. Thanks to a contribution from the Piedmont Region in 2018, the following year, on 30 May 2019, the transfer of ownership was signed in favour of the Municipality of Frinco, which immediately started the consolidation works of the fortress which will end in December 2021. In 2022 the first events take place, with openings to the public, weddings and FAI autumn days with as many as 1400 visits on weekends. In 2023, reconstruction from the south wing is planned. In January 2024, work began to be completed in December 2024. Today the structure of the castle is back to the public, once again strong and imposing, making a fine show of itself, on a hilly territory of unparalleled beauty and importance such as that of Monferrato.
