Описание: What makes a great bar? For me, it's having a space to make genuine connections with people. Most bars actively dissuade this, with blaringly loud music, ridiculously overamped cover bands, blinding lights and other distractions. McSorley's Old Ale House, the oldest Irish bar in New York City, is special. It fosters those moments we go out in search of in the first place.

There's no music, people can talk to each other. There are two types of beers; light and dark. They serve them two at a time. The walls are covered in pictures, memories, in legacy. In one picture, you have Woody Guthrie standing in the same spot you are, singing to the pub goers and working class folks of 1950 whatever-it-was. Anytime i've been there, i've met new friends, had conversations, made memories. This time was no exception.

Don't ask me how Josh Okeefe, the guitar slingin', folk singin' troubadour got permission from the bar to sing here. They do not do this kind of thing. Somehow, with his endless charisma and beautiful songs, he melted the hearts of the owner of the establishment. They just knew he was the real deal, and they know authenticity there. They were thrilled to see him when we arrived, trading stories of his last visit and laughing. Josh played the whole day as we downed pints, old Irish songs and new Josh Okeefe ones. Some folks got right in the action, singing along and doing their own renditions.
