The emergency services were called after alarmed members of the public reported dark black plumes of smoke rising over a #Wyke suburb with loud bangs being heard.

The incident on Wyke Lane close to two chemical manufacturing plants turned out to be a fire involving a number of HGV wagons at the former Lead Leadbeaters yard, now Fearnley Farm, Oakenshaw, Bradford

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have said “Fire crews were called to reports of a vehicle fire at Wyke Lane, Bradford just after 4pm today (01 June 24).

“Numerous HGV trailers are involved in fire. Appliances from Odsal, Cleckheaton, Bradford, Morley, Halifax and Fairweather Green are in attendance.

“Firefighters are presently using 6 large jets to tackle the fire.

“The public are advised to avoid the area where possible due to heavy smoke.”
