Small changes help the timeless design of the British icon stand out even more.
The Callum Design studio has unveiled a stunning, modernized Jaguar E-Type.
Changes include LEDs, a bumper delete, flush door handles, and new tech inside.
The project is presented in renderings, showing what’s possible for future clients.
While Jaguar’s recent efforts to reimagine what an icon can look like have split opinions, the classic E-Type remains universally hailed as one of the most stunning production cars ever built. Over the years, it has inspired a flood of restomods and continuation projects. Now, former Jaguar design chief Ian Callum has paid his own tribute to this British legend with a modernized version that’s hard to ignore.
Revealed on social media as the Callum Portfolio project of the month, this sleek reinterpretation of the E-Type exists for now only in the digital realm. However, if you’re got deep enough pockets and the project catches your eye, they’ll happily build one just for you. So, no need to daydream about owning this beauty, just make sure you have the funds to back it up.
While the redesign clearly acknowledges its roots, the modernized E-Type doesn’t shy away from subtle updates. The iconic elongated hood and graceful curves remain unchanged, but the steel bumpers have been ditched in favor of a sleeker, minimalist look, reminiscent of the E-Type Lightweight. The door handles have also been streamlined, now sitting flush with the body to enhance that clean, contemporary finish.

Furthermore, the headlights and taillights have been upgraded with LED technology, without altering their timeless shape. At the back, the taillights have been positioned lower, while the dual tailpipes have been enlarged for a sportier look.
The alloy wheels are another standout feature. Inspired by the classic wire wheelsdesign, they’ve been updated with a larger diameter and paired with modern performance tires. With a lowered suspension setup, these wheels improve both the vehicle’s aesthetics and handling capabilities.
Inside, the cabin merges retro charm with modern tech. A transparent center module houses digital gauges and touch-sensitive media controls, while the analog dials and the original toggle switches remain intact. The seats are upholstered in red leather, matching the fabric retractable roof. We can also see a wooden steering wheel, a manual gear shifter, and subtle aluminum accents.
Callum kept the technical specs under wraps, but it’s pretty clear that this restomod was designed with a combustion engine and a manual transmission in mind. If we had to guess, a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 from the now-defunct F-Type, paired with modern suspension and chassis upgrades, would be the perfect match for this updated E-Type. A proper treat, if you ask us.
This is not the first time that Callum revisits an older British icon. The studio has given us the Aston Martin Vanquish 25 restomod, and street-legal versions of the Jaguar C-X75 supercar with a host of upgrades. More recently, Callum presented its first standalone project – a high-performance multi-terrain vehicle known as the Skye EV.
