2026 began in the Arctic - with fireworks, frozen fjords and a lot of unexpected decisions.
It starts on New Year´s Eve - layering up in all the wool and heading out to photograph fireworks, before celebrating the New Year.
At midnight, my best friend and I hike up a mountain and welcome the new year from above, watching the fireworks and drinking champagne.
The next morning we planned to kayak, but the fjord froze solid and reminded us who´s in charge up here... The fjord was frozen at the bay where we usually start from, and after a few attempts to find a solution, we changed our mind... After all, kayaking in -21C degrees would have been a challenge on its own...
