Ed è di fatto l'occasione, dopo otto anni di totale distacco dal mondo della musica, affinché l'ultimo atto della sua vita terrena, l'ultima fatica, sia stata un trionfale, entusiasmante ritorno alla sua musica.
Non è il canto del cigno. È, intanto, il perfezionismo di Lyle Mays, che non poteva lasciare incompiuto un simile capolavoro. Ma è soprattutto il ritrovamento di un rinnovato entusiasmo verso la composizione, il suono, la melodia, il piano. Non fosse intervenuta, subito dopo, la fine (ci dice sua nipote) ci sarebbe stato sicuramente di più. Il destino però ha voluto che potesse chiudere il cerchio; che questa vita terrena si chiudesse componendo e suonando. Perché, se è vero che Lyle è stato un uomo dalle molteplici passioni e dall'ingegno multiforme, sarebbe davvero stato innaturale non chiudere la sua esperienza terrena nel segno della sua più grande passione: la Musica.

It's the last gift that Lyle Mays decided to leave to the world.

This will be in fact our occasion to ensure that the last act of his earthly life,
the last effort, which came 8 years after he had decided to suspend his career in music, is a triumphal and exciting return to the world of jazz. It is not simply a swan song. It is the result of the perfectionism of Lyle Mays, who could have never left this masterpiece unfinished. This piece represents, above all, the discovery of a renewed enthusiasm for composition, sound, melody, piano. If the end of his earthly life would have not come immediately after this piece (this is what his niece tells us) there would have certainly been more.

Destiny, in any case, let him close the circle so that his life on this earth would come to an end while composing and playing. Indeed, despite Lyle being a man of multiple passions and multiform genius, it would have not been the same if he (also for all of us) missed the opportunity to conclude his life experience dedicating himself to the one of his passions which, in any case, remains the most glorious: music!
