I revisited the Centralia where the underground mine fire resides on 24 May 2023. This time I took some carbon monoxide readings in addition to thermal imaging and temperature readings from the active steam vents off of Big Mine Run Road. The underground coal seam mine fire has been burning under Centralia PA over 60 years since 1962. Another fire burns just 2 miles (3km) to the east called
the Girardville fire. Is it possible that the Centralia fire went deep and travelled to that location?
