I spent 5 days in Nairobi, and trust me, a little planning goes a long way. Here’s what you NEED to know before you book that flight:

✅ No visa required, but you MUST apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online at Citizen.go.ke—$30 per person and takes 2-5 business days. Don’t leave it till the last minute!

✅ Cash is king—the Kenyan shilling is the official currency, and while cards (Visa & Mastercard) are widely accepted at hotels and malls, local markets, restaurants, and transport like matatus & bodas require cash.

✅ Uber & Bolt are your best bets for getting around, but be wary of drivers trying to upcharge you—cancel and rebook if needed.

✅ Safaris are a MUST—but leave the bright colors at home! Stick to beige, khaki, olive, or black to avoid attracting insects or scaring animals. Also, bring binoculars, comfy shoes, and DEET-based bug spray (Malaria is present!).

✅ The best time to visit? June to October for dry season & wildlife viewing. Avoid the rainy months (March-May, Nov-Dec).
