Aid agencies warn of health crisis after Venezuela earthquakes displace millions

International NGOs, working with the government, are providing emergency shelter, food and medical assistance, while aid agencies warn that disrupted medicine supplies and damaged healthcare facilities are creating serious health risks.
Humanitarian workers fear outbreaks of diarrhoea and other diseases because of overcrowding and poor sanitation, calling for portable toilets and better organisation of camps.
Hospitals across the affected region are operating beyond capacity after sustaining earthquake damage. Some survivors accuse the government of responding too slowly, saying meaningful assistance only arrived after international aid efforts began.
Medical volunteers also criticise the coordination of relief operations. As emergency assistance continues, many families remain homeless and face an uncertain recovery.
