DRDO Netra AEW&CS In Detail.
Today we will talk about DRDO Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control System. During the Balakot airstrike on 26 February 2019, the Netra AWACS was used for the first time in combat by the IAF. It is based on the Brazilian Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft. All the sensors and other major components are designed and developed by DRDO's various laboratories. Indian private sector firms are also involved in the programme. National Aerospace Laboratories contributed to the aerodynamic studies of the antenna array and flight modeling of the entire AWACS platform. In 2003, the Indian Air Force and DRDO conducted a joint study, of the system-level requirements, and feasibility of development, for an Airborne early warning and control system. Netra AWACS conducted its first flight in 2013 and enter active service in 2017. Embraer ERJ-145 has a cruise speed of Mach 0.8 or 853 km/h.. It has a range of more than 2,000 mile or 3,500 km. It has a Service ceiling of 39,000 feet or 11,300 meter.
