Thugamar Féin An Samhradh Linn is an ancient traditional Irish tune sung on “Lá Bealtaine” or “May Day,” the Celtic festival of summer. It celebrates the joys of nature and youth. A central theme of the music is the blossoming nature and birdsong that arrives with the season, so it feels particularly apt for the tune to be performed on a flute!
In this episode, our principal flutist plays this work together with it's composer Seán Morgan-Rooney, on piano as well as telling more about her musical experience.
