✅ Understanding the difference between "extension" and "collection" jumping is key to improving your dog’s agility performance!
✅ In this video, I'm taking a closer look at how dogs jump and I'm showing examples for each style of jumping and how it affects the take off and landing points, both in regular speed and slow motion.
✅ Understanding this will help you give your dog timely cues so they can prepare for the direction they need to take AFTER the jump!
🐾 When jumps are in a straight line, dogs will jump with "extension" which means they will jump over the middle of the bar as well as take off and land further away from the jump, for maximum speed and efficiency.
🐾 When we give timely cues to our dog that they direction changes AFTER the next jump, they will "collect" = putting in an extra stride before take-off and landing closer after the jump, while crossing the bar closer to the wing they are turning around for maximum efficiency and safety.
Whether you’re new to agility or refining your skills, this video will help you and your dog move more efficiently on course!
