In Kasaragod, a couple, Poinachi, Parambil Venugopalan Nair and his wife Smitha, were found dead (having ended their lives). They are the parents of engineering student M. Sivanandan, who died after being hit by a train while on his way to watch a music program by the singer Vedan. M. Sivanandan, the couple's only son and an engineering student in Mangaluru, was hit and killed by a train on the night of December 29th.
