After 6 months on my MMA journey, I’ve realized one of the biggest lessons in jiu-jitsu: you can’t just muscle everything. At first, I tried to rely on strength to survive, escape, or even submit my opponent. But that approach left me gassed out every roll.
What’s been helping me is learning to flow with the pressure instead of fighting it. Being fluid with your movements not only conserves energy, but it also keeps your mind calm, your breathing steady, and your opponent guessing.
I’m not an instructor—just a white belt documenting the journey. But I want to share what’s been working for me and hopefully help anyone else just starting out.
