Several people have been killed and injured after a fire broke out in a passenger coach in Nooriabad area on M9 Motorway near Karachi, Pakistan.

According to Qasim Soomro, Parliamentary Secretary of Pakistan's Sindh Province Health Department, 16 people were killed and around 10 were injured.

He said that there are 12 children under the age of 15 and 4 adults among the dead.

According to Qasim Soomro, 'These people of Mughiri community belonged to Nathan Shah of Khairpur who were returning from Karachi.'

It should be remembered that due to the recent flood rains, the urban population has been affected more than ever in Khairpur Nathan Shah city, which is still under water.

Provincial Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon while confirming the casualties said that a fire broke out in the AC plant which engulfed the bus. According to him, it has not yet been confirmed that the victims of the accident were flood victims

DSP Nooriabad Wajid Ali Thiem says that the passenger coach was going from Karachi to Khairpurnathan Shah, some passengers died as a result of the fire.

He said that all the people in the passenger coach were flood victims and all the people were going back to their village Khairpurnathan Shah from Karachi.

Provincial Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam, while expressing regret over the loss of precious lives due to the fire in the coach in Nooriabad, urged the Transport Secretary to form a high-level committee to investigate the matter.

He said that 'In three days, the people responsible for the matter should be determined, due to whose negligence, innocent lives were lost. Were safety measures complete in the bus? Why passengers were not evacuated through the emergency doors.'

He said that strict legal action will be taken against those who are negligent in the accident.

On the other hand, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has also taken notice of the fire in a passenger coach near Nooriabad. He said Sindh Chief Minister directed DC and SP Jamshoro to help the victims.

The Chief Minister directed the administration to provide all kinds of support to the families of the victims
