A major controversy has erupted after three Bengaluru police personnel were arrested by the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in an alleged bribery case linked to a dowry harassment investigation.

According to reports, sub-inspector Anita K and head constables Yatish Kumar and Ulvappa, attached to Bengaluru’s HAL police station, were caught red-handed in Jaipur while allegedly accepting a bribe. The officers were reportedly trapped in a hotel while demanding ₹2 lakh to dilute the case and were caught taking an initial payment of ₹40,000.

Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge reacted to the incident, calling the system “rusted” and stating that the officers have been suspended. He also said the government is working on a mechanism for citizens to directly report police corruption and misconduct.

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka strongly criticised the government, alleging a deterioration in policing and rising corruption within the department. He also claimed that multiple police personnel have been suspended in various cases and accused the government of weakening law and order in the state.

The incident has triggered a political war of words between the ruling party and the opposition over accountability, corruption, and policing standards in Karnataka.
