Описание: Horizon Park Ltd has been unsuccessful in purchasing RAF Scampton through a local District Council (WLDC) partnership. The Horizon Park scheme was an ambitious proposal centred around heritage and reimagining the site, returning the airfield to the community. We had planned to include the Red Arrows training as part of our proposal, but this looked unlikely to be achievable due to tight regulation, so we had to re-think utilising the airspace.

As the local area has numerous airfields in current use, we felt the need for additional commercial and private aircraft to support the cost of a working airfield impractical. However, we intended to use the airspace for aviation shows and flybys which can include historical aircraft as a feature.

Horizon Park was not designed as a theme park but aimed to educate and improve visitors' physical and mental health. We wanted the site to offer various facilities and attractions. The project was an ambitious proposal and intended to include sports facilities, such as the surf garden, climbing walls, boating, and extensive gardens dedicated to the late Queen Elisabeth II. The existing Officers Mess was to be refurbished and transformed into a stunning The 1940's inspired luxury hotel and spa. Additional accommodation was planned to represent a Hobbit village, including camping, ideal for creating a unique stay and enjoying the park. In addition, we wanted to include several indoor attractions, including the Dambusters Experience museum and family adventure park complexes where visitors of all ages and abilities can climb, imagine, play, explore and have fun.

It would have been a privilege to develop this unique location, return the site to the community, and have a greener development moving towards a project that would span generations and provide a sustainable and prominent tourist destination for many years.
