Today we're visiting the town of Aylmer, Ontario. Located approximately 20 minutes south of Highway 401 in Elgin County, this small town has a large community of Mennonite and Amish, along with some of the most beautiful century homes in the region.
We drive through the town of Aylmer, starting off on the west end of Highway 3 and drive east into the town. We discuss the demographics of the town including the small population increase over the past 4 years, and the history of the town. Aylmer is home to some beautiful century homes located along Highway 3, and worth driving through to see. In fact many of the houses in Aylmer are older, with rich history and pride of ownership.
We discuss the large Mexican Mennonite community that lives here, with several shops and restaurants run by them. There's also a large Old World Amish community here.
We continue driving through the town showing some of the buildings and houses before making our way north to the Ontario Police College which sits on the former site of RCAF Aylmer Station.
