Around 3.6 million position data points and 1,600 match events (goals, passes, fouls, etc.) are collected during each game in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 by the DFL subsidiary Sportec Solutions. The result is the DFL’s official match data, which is used for a variety of purposes. The first tender for the official collection of match data back in 2011 signalled the kick-off for this ground-breaking project.
