Ayer Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway Bypass is a 5.7km road planned to connect Ayer Itam with the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. It is also known as the George Town Outer Bypass. Extension of time (EOT) for Package 2 of the Air Itam-Lim Chong Eu Expressway bypass was granted only after the contractor justified the delay in accordance with the project’s contract terms, the Penang Infrastructure Corporation (PIC) said.
The PIC said the EOT application underwent a thorough review by the Extension of Time Committee, based on factual and technical findings, and in line with the contract provisions.
“The current progress stands at 87% on-site, and the Package 2 project is now expected to be completed by April 12, 2027, taking into account the two approved EOTs in accordance with the contract terms,” it said in a statement on Friday.
