On a longer walk a few years ago I've found the bones of a deer deep in the forest. It was spring. That poor creature likely didn't survive the winter. Nature is cruel, but somehow fair as well. We people often think we've escaped the strong force of mother earth beneath us... but then I look at these ruins from old houses and walls from long ago... like bones of a once alive creature...

On an old map from 1823 I saw that this area once was a so-called "Thiergarten". In my first language of german we still have the word "Tiergarten" which means "zoo". Back then a Thiergarten often was a hunting area for royalties for example. Usually with a wall around it. You can still find the ruins of these walls when you follow the path down to the nature reserve. A beautiful castle not far away is still inhabited.

It's hard to imagine how many animals might have been shot back then but they couldn't find the body. A bit later you would only find the bones. Today looking back at it mother nature seemed to have found a way to turn things around, maybe some sort of "Karma" if you want.

I'm amazed by these ruins but still they always seem to make me sad a bit. There was always some emotion connected to these buildings. People put in their energy to errect them. Now it's nothing but a skeleton in the woods, a quiet whisper from an age long ago...

Maybe I'm blessed by the ability to see these connections... maybe I'm cursed... I don't know. All I know is how much I should always remember myself to cherish every second I'm breathing, every moment all the stuff around me is still alive and not only bones left in the woods. If this is a blessing or a curse... you decide... I'm just a walker...
