After receiving news that my adopted son will soon return to live with his biological mother, I found myself rereading Psalm 18 multiple times — searching for comfort. It wasn’t until the fourth time that verse 1 finally stopped grabbed hold of me: “I love You, Lord, my strength.” (Psalm 18:1)

Sometimes God doesn’t remove the pain instantly. Sometimes He meets us in it. This reflection is about grief, healing, foster care, surrender, and trusting that the Lord truly is our rock and fortress — even when our hearts are breaking.
