The AST Polygeyser is a patented filter technology that separates backwash from water loss. These filters backwash pneumatically, multiple times a day, concentrating the sludge in the bottom basin. This sludge should be periodically drained. High loading requires more frequent draining, possibly daily. Low loads can have sludge purged as little as once a week.
