Nabapatrika is one of the most important part of Durgapuja according to the bengali customs and rituals. Nabapatrika is commonly known as "kolabou" and there is a myth about the kolabou. many people in bengal believe that kolobou is the wife of lord ganesha but this is totally wrong. Actually Nabapatrika is none other than goddess durga.
On the early hours of Saptami, Goddess Durga is invoked in a group of nine plants bunched together, called Nabapatrika, and tied to the twigs of white Aparajita plant with a yellow thread. These nine plants represent the nine manifestations of Goddess. Each plant represent one form of devi durga. After the bathing ceremony nabapatrika aborned with saari and sindoor/ vermilion on its leaves and decorate her as a new bride. Later she place on the right side of the devi durga. As because lord ganesha also on same side thats the reason the myth about the kolabou/nabapatrika. The 9 godess are:
1. Banana plant : Goddess Brahmani

2. Colocasia plant: Goddess Kalika

3. Turmeric plant: Goddess Durga

4. Jayanti plant: Goddess Kartiki

5. Bel leaves: goddess Shiba/ Maheswari

6. Pomegranate leaves: Goddess Raktadantika

7. Asoka leaves: Goddess jayadurga/Shokarahita

8. Arum plant: Goddess Chamunda

9. Rice paddy: Goddess Lakshmi
