🌿 Elemuri Soppu Tambuli (Traditional Karnataka Style)
Ingredients
• Elemuri soppu (fresh leaves) – 1 handful
• Ghee – 2 tsp
• Jeera (cumin seeds) – ½ tsp
• Peppercorns – ½ tsp
• Fresh grated coconut – ¼ cup
• Curd (yogurt) – ½ cup (use little first, rest later)
• Salt – ½ tsp (or to taste)
• Water – 1 tbsp
Method
1. Wash elemuri soppu thoroughly and keep aside.
2. Heat ghee in a pan.
Add jeera and peppercorns and fry until they splutter.
3. Add the elemuri leaves and roast till crisp. Switch off flame and let it cool slightly.
4. In a mixer, add:
• Coconut
• Salt
• Fried elemuri leaves mixture
• A little curd
• Water
Grind to a smooth paste.
5. Transfer to a bowl and add remaining whisked curd.
6. Mix well. Adjust salt if needed.
