Appalachia native drawn to Campbell DPT rural healthcare emphasis, plans to return to serve

Описание: Appalachia native Pete Willingham (2nd year SPT) was drawn to the Campbell DPT Program because of its emphasis on rural healthcare. He shares what he thinks was Helene’s greatest impact on his community and why he wants to return there after graduation. Pete also emphasizes why curiosity, humility, and generosity are character traits every PT should embrace and why they are important to the profession.

The Campbell University Department of Physical Therapy is committed to graduating doctors of physical therapy who deliver skilled, compassionate, patient-centered care, from a service-oriented, Christian guided view, with special emphasis on rural healthcare environments. Our open, engaging and diverse faculty is qualified to deliver our unique curriculum through evidence supported pedagogy, interactive learning, and collaborative efforts. They model professional behaviors, skills, and service while developing graduates ready to practice independently as part of a comprehensive inter-professional healthcare team. Our department believes in a learning environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and interactions within and between healthcare professions in both service and clinical internships in a variety of settings. Inter-professional learning experiences provided throughout the program are designed to integrate profession specific knowledge that will prepare graduates for real world situations and changes in healthcare delivery. We believe our graduates will possess the skills, knowledge, and professional attributes to provide competent, compassionate, ethical, and patient centered care to serve all sectors of society and promote advancement of physical therapy to benefit the communities where they live and practice.
